Pain Management

What is pain management?

Pain management is necessary when significant damage is done to the body, resulting in pain. It allows you to cope with pain through various treatments such as prescription medication, physiotherapy and hypnosis. While doctors often prescribe painkillers to help cope with the pain, which can negatively impact one’s life, fortunately, there are alternative methods.

An effective way to manage chronic pain is through hypnosis, which can effectively reduce pain by influencing the two main structures deep in the brain that register pain, such as the frontal cingulate cortex and the insula. Hypnosis does not 'turn off' these structures, but rather modulates their activity, leading to pain reduction. However, it's important to note that hypnosis is not a substitute for medical treatment; it should be used alongside it for optimal results.

Chronic pain may also lead to anxiety or a depressive episode. However, there’s still hope because we can elevate the person’s mood through counselling or a specialised therapeutic technique known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a treatment for emotional stress and pain.

Why is pain management so vital?

Pain management is not just about alleviating pain; it's about empowering you to carry out day-to-day tasks with ease, without the debilitating effects of pain. Any individual with acute or chronic pain can take control of their life with the help of pain management techniques.

They may develop chronic pain due to the following conditions:
